A tragic incident occurred early Friday morning in rural El Dorado County when a man died after his pickup truck collided with a tree off State Route 193. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that they received a call about the crash just before 7:30 a.m., near westbound Highway 193 at Longview Lane, as detailed in coverage by KCRA. The area is located approximately 20 miles north of Placerville.
At the scene, CHP officers found a black pickup truck towing a small utility trailer that had veered off the road and struck trees. The sole occupant was pronounced dead, CBS News Sacramento reported. CHP said the man was not wearing a seat belt, and no identification was found, so his identity has not yet been released.
The cause of the pickup's crash is under investigation, and it’s unclear if alcohol was involved. CHP will wait for toxicology results to determine if intoxication played a role. Although reported in the morning, the crash may have occurred several hours earlier.
