A man was shot and killed in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood this morning. According to ABC 7 New York, the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. near West 46th Street and 12th Avenue. The 39-year-old victim sustained gunshot wounds to his back and groin. The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Responding officers and first responders transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released, and authorities are working to notify his family, as reported by ABC 7 New York.
The New York Post reports that the shooting occurred outside Harbor NYC Club. Following the incident, NYPD officers conducted a search for evidence and spoke with potential witnesses at a nearby 24-hour car wash. The incident happened as patrons were leaving the rooftop venue, which closed around the same time.
Eli, a patron at the club during the shooting, told The New York Post, "It shouldn’t be happening. It's unnecessary." He added, "Why are people getting shot at nighttime, around the holidays, Thanksgiving's around the corner, Christmas is around the corner. It’s a time to be joyful and be thankful for one another, and people wanna shoot one another. For what? What’s your purpose here?" Another clubgoer, identified as Tim, expressed surprise, noting that they hadn't seen trouble at the Hell's Kitchen venue before and said, "I feel like it’s a good spot, it’s just you get caught at the wrong spot, wrong time, you feel me?"
No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the circumstances and motive of the shooting is ongoing. The NYPD is asking anyone with information to come forward to help identify and locate the suspect.
