Tragedy struck in Clairton, Allegheny County, as a man was found dead due to gunshot wounds in the yard of a local residence. WPXI reported that the Allegheny County Police Department initiated an investigation after 911 dispatchers received reports of shots fired in the Village Inn parking lot at approximately 11:55 p.m. last night.
Nearly half an hour later, at 12:23 a.m. Saturday, a second call directed officers to the 800 block of Vankirk Street, where the victim's body was discovered. Attempts to fully piece together this violent puzzle and to justly give a name to the setting of this situation were made when the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Elliott Page, aged 45. Detectives are actively seeking information connected to this incident, and the homicide unit of ACPD is at the helm of the investigation.
In a parallel account of events, WTAE confirms that after the initial reports of gunfire, first responders arrived at the Village Inn parking lot to find no individuals with injuries. It wasn't until the second alert, nearly 30 minutes later, that the grim discovery in the backyard brought the situation into a somber focus.
