A deadly confrontation unfolded Monday evening on a San Antonio street when a road rage incident escalated into gunfire, resulting in one man's death. According to Fox San Antonio, the confrontation began near Silver Oaks and Belair Drive around 5:35 p.m., when one driver followed another to his home and started firing at the house.
The resident, in turn, retrieved a gun and fired back at the 58-year-old aggressor, ultimately killing him. San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reports that the resident shooter has since been detained for questioning. No charges have been announced as of the latest updates, and the investigation is active, with more details forthcoming.
KSAT adds that the shooting happened in the 11200 block of Belair Drive, near Lockhill Selma Road and NW Military Highway. SAPD discovered the body of the 58-year-old man at the scene. The fatal encounter ensued after a heated exchange between the two individuals, which then led to a series of gunfire.
Witness accounts suggest that the resident, a 23-year-old man, went back into his home to possibly get another firearm during the altercation. SAPD has confirmed that the younger man is cooperating with the investigation, though it remains unclear if, or what charges, he may face. The 58-year-old continued firing, prompting the resident to respond to the gunfire outside of his home, resulting in the fatal shot.
