A serious hit-and-run incident in Kahuku has left a man with severe injuries, as reported by the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). The collision occurred last Saturday at around 7:45 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway near Burroughs Road, as per KHON2 and further confirmed by Hawaii News Now.
The victim, a 38-year-old male pedestrian, was reportedly walking outside a marked crosswalk when an eastbound driver struck him and fled the scene without stopping to assist or contact authorities, HPD detailed. KHON2 and Hawaii News Now have noted close similarities in their reports, reflecting the concerning nature of the case. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) rushed to the scene, providing critical treatment to the injured man, who suffered a head injury among other serious injuries, before transferring him to an emergency facility for advanced care.
The hit-and-run driver remains unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing to ascertain whether factors like speed, alcohol, or drugs played roles in the incident, as stated by HPD.
