The Manatee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is set to launch its annual poinsettia sale this upcoming Saturday, signaling the commencement of a cherished local holiday tradition with a dual purpose: to adorn homes with festive flora and to advance the rehabilitative objectives of the MCSO LIFE Program. According to a statement by MCSO, the event is scheduled to take place at the Manatee County Jail Farm located at 14470 Harlee Rd. in Palmetto, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., though there will be a pause in operations for lunch from 11-11:30 a.m.
In alignment with the MCSO's Leading Inmates to Future Employment (L.I.F.E.) initiative, the poinsettias present an opportunity not only for the community to embrace the holiday spirit, but also to directly support the program's mission, offering inmates a platform to acquire practical horticultural skills. The sale will feature 6" pots priced at $5 and 8" pots for $12, with a variety of payment options accommodating credit cards, debit cards, and checks, and in keeping with the program's modern approach to business transactions, cash will not be accepted. Post-kickoff, there will be ongoing weekday sales at the Jail Farm, which will run from 8 to 11 a.m., and concurrently from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., spanning until the supply of poinsettias is fully expended, as noted on the MCSO website.
