The San Antonio Public Library will host author Curtis Chin at the Central Library, 600 Soledad St., on Monday next week from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chin will discuss his memoir Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant, which reflects on his experiences growing up as a gay Chinese American in Detroit during the 1980s. Registration is required and available on the SAPL website, as per the City of San Antonio release.

Chin is the co-founder and first executive director of the Asian American Writers' Workshop. His career spans television writing and documentary filmmaking, with his films screened at over 600 venues in 16 countries. Books will be available for purchase through Nowhere Bookshop, followed by a signing session.

His writing has appeared in outlets such as CNN, Bon Appétit, and The Boston Globe’s Emancipator. A graduate of the University of Michigan and a former visiting scholar at New York University, Chin’s work has earned recognition from ABC/Disney Television, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
