According to the Metropolitan Police Department press release, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue SE around 10:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found 40-year-old Lowell Trueheart of Southeast DC suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
