Gas prices in Michigan have dropped 9 cents per gallon for regular unleaded, bringing the statewide average to $3.02 per gallon. A full 15-gallon tank now costs about $45, according to CBS News Detroit.
AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland told WXYZ that "Motorists across Michigan are seeing lower prices at the pump." She also said "If demand continues to fall, alongside low crude oil prices, gas prices may drop further." Metro Detroit’s average price is about $3.05 per gallon after a 2-cent drop, while Ann Arbor’s average is around $3.11 per gallon. All reported prices are lower than a year ago.
Michigan’s average gas price is below the national average of $3.07, as mentioned by Upper Michigan's Source. Traverse City reports some of the lowest prices at $2.81 per gallon, and Marquette County averages $2.90. The EIA says crude oil inventories increased by 5.2 million barrels but remain about 4% below the five-year average. These changes show continued variation in gas prices across the state.
