In a late-night update that brought relief to the Denton community, the City of Denton Police Department announced on social media that the previously missing 13-year-old Harper has been found safe and has returned to her family. The news, shared at 2:28 a.m., came after hours of growing concern following the report of her disappearance.
Harper was last seen around 10:15 p.m. on the 900 block of Aileen Street, according to the City of Denton Police Department. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing brown sweatpants and a brown sweatshirt, although there was a possibility she may have changed into pajamas. Described as having auburn hair and hazel eyes, Harper stands at 5'2" and weighs approximately 105 pounds. It was believed that she had left the area on foot.
The Denton Police had issued a call to action through their social media, urging the community to dial 911 if they saw Harper. The community's engagement with the appeal to find Harper speaks to the visceral fear that grips a town when a young soul vanishes into the night and the collaborative spirit that ensues when it rallies to bring them home.
