Residents of the Oakdale Rural Fire District caught a sudden blaze last Saturday night when an RV parked on Wilkins Avenue caught fire, leading a rapid response from local firefighters. The Modesto Fire Department posted on their official Facebook page that their crew from Station 27 was promptly dispatched shortly after the incident was reported at 7:00 p.m. Initially an RV fire, the situation escalated when a nearby barn started to catch flames, prompting to quickly upgrade the incident to a working structure fire.
The update, which detailed the firefighters' actions, revealed that upon their arrival, they found the RV "fully engulfed" and the adjacent barn’s wall catching fire. The team's fast reaction was crucial in controlling the situation. They were able to extend and effectively deploy two hose lines, suppressing the fires before they could fully consume the barn or spread to a nearby home. According to the social media post, the fire has been ruled as accidental by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit.
Fortunately, the quick response resulted in no injuries either to the occupants of the RV or the firefighters involved. The incident mobilized a considerable force, with the Modesto Fire Department reporting a total of 21 firefighters responding to the emergency.
