
The Montebello Police Department has reported the arrest of a man, Christian David Anderson, following several unprovoked stabbings in Montebello, California. According to a CBS News Los Angeles article, on Tuesday, authorities found an elderly man with a stab wound to his chest near Garfield Avenue and Whittier Boulevard after responding to calls about an unresponsive individual.
Victims were promptly tended to, with one being taken to a trauma center due to life-threatening injuries sustained, and the other did not sustain life-threatening injuries and is recovering in a local hospital. The Montebello Police Department utilized resources to identify the suspect, and following another stabbing incident the next day near the 500 block of Garfield Avenue, police established a perimeter. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Air Unit assisted in apprehending Anderson.
Montebello Police have emphasized that due to the arrest, there is now no current threat to the public. The first victim's condition following the attack remains critical but stable, while the second victim is said to be in recovery from non-life-threatening injuries. The police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward and contact Detective Eric Rodriguez.
In a Facebook post by the Montebello Police Department, the suspect, Anderson, was described as a male, white, 5'9", and weighing 180 pounds. The investigations for both stabbings were actively pursued by detectives from the Montebello Police Department, with the assistance of other local law enforcement agencies.
