Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich highlighted the importance of the survey, saying, "This survey is a vital tool for building stronger partnerships with our faith communities," a statement obtained by the Montgomery County officials. More than one-third of the County's residents are foreign-born, and public schools echo with over 162 different languages, reflective of a community where Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and Orthodox Christian faiths, along with many others, coexist.
Despite already tracking over 600 local houses of worship, the Montgomery County continues to strive for inclusivity, seeking to ensure no group is left behind and all listed information is up to date. The survey's rewards are manifold. By participating, religious organizations stand to gain enhanced communication channels with the Montgomery County about grants and events, sharpened emergency preparedness, and accurate representation in public mapping endeavors. Publicly shared data will include basic contact info and religious affiliation, with more detailed responses kept confidential for service and outreach improvement purposes.
