A collision involving a bus and other vehicles in Clearwater on Wednesday afternoon led to multiple injuries and traffic disruptions. The incident, which took place at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Countryside Boulevard, saw first responders from Clearwater Police Department and Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department working the scene.
According to a social media post by the City of Clearwater Government, the crash occurred at 3:12 p.m. on Countryside Boulevard, underneath U.S. 19. While the main thoroughfare of U.S. 19 was not directly impeded by the accident, the collision nonetheless has caused traffic complications in the area.
Multifarious patients from the scene are currently being shuttled to local hospitals for treatment. One individual was deemed a trauma alert, although, none of the injuries sustained in the crash are expected to be life-threatening. The Clearwater authorities have not released information on what led to the crash or the identities of those involved at this time.
In addition to vehicular damages, a traffic signal pole was among the casualties of the calamity, having been struck during the crash and subsequently toppling into the roadway. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes to avoid the affected area for the time being.
