Americana musician Todd Snider, known for his blend of humor and poignancy in songs, found himself in a serious situation this week after an alleged assault in Utah led to his arrest. Snider, 59, was taken into custody on Sunday for purportedly causing a disturbance at Holy Cross Hospital and issuing threats to staff, as reported by KSL.
Earlier, Snider had been treated for "severe injuries" suffered during what his representatives described as a "violent assault" outside his hotel in Salt Lake City. Details on the assault have yet to be disclosed, with the South Salt Lake Police Department highlighting the ambiguity of the incident's specifics in a release covered by FOX 13 Now. Following his discharge from the hospital, Snider allegedly became confrontational and, after leaving once, was told not to return. He came back to the facility, where he is said to have endangered an employee with a threat.
Snider's arrest led to him being booked on charges including disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing, and threats of violence, though formal charges were pending as of Monday, based on reports from FOX 13 Now. Snider had been touring for his latest album, "High, Lonesome and Then Some," with performances in Phoenix, West Hollywood, and San Francisco among those canceled in the wake of these events.
In light of his recent arrest and the alleged attack that preceded it, Aimless Inc., speaking on behalf of Snider, issued an apology for the necessary tour cancellations, telling fans through LocalSYR.com, "We deeply apologize for any cancellation and any inconvenience it causes." Furthermore, the company expressed gratitude for the understanding of fans and promised updates on Snider's situation as the musician awaits additional medical treatment and possible rescheduled tour dates.
