A man has been convicted of a 2022 Shelbyville homicide following a traffic stop conducted by Lebanon Police Department officers, which unearthed crucial evidence. The Shelbyville Police Department discovered Charles Mayes deceased from a gunshot wound on October 5, 2022, with multiple 9mm shell casings at the scene, as noted by Wilson County Source. Although initially, the firearm used was not recovered, the case saw a breakthrough in July 2023.
Christian Parrish, a 25-year-old Nashville resident, was stopped for driving a white Nissan Altima with a defective passenger-side headlight. During the stop, Parrish revealed to the officers he had a firearm by his seat, which led to the discovery of two pistols, including a 9mm Glock 19 with gang-related markings and illegal narcotics, driving through a Lebanon neighborhood with a defective headlight. According to a FOX 17 report, the gun was submitted for ballistics testing along with a .40 S&W recovered from the vehicle.
Subsequent analysis by TBI confirmed the Glock matched the shell casings from the homicide scene, which led to Parrish's arrest for the murder of Charles Mayes in June 2024, as detailed by WKRN News. Earlier this month, Parrish was formally convicted of the murder after a testimony from an LPD officer supported the prosecution's case.
Following the conviction, sentencing for Parrish has been set for January 2026. "Had markings consistent with gang-related defacement," Lebanon police noted in a social media post Monday, referring to the Glock, which was linked to the murder. Whilst in custody, Christian Parrish will wait to learn his fate for his role in the death of Charles Mayes, as reported by Wilson County Source.
