Nashville authorities are currently on the hunt for Marcus Stanton, 20, a suspect involved in a string of vehicle and firearms thefts. The Metro Nashville Police Department has issued an escape warrant for Stanton, who had been apprehended and then later fled from police custody. On Tuesday evening, after detectives tried to apprehend him as he drove away from his Pippen Drive home, Stanton led authorities on a chase before making a run for it.

Stanton's latest encounter with law enforcement began when he left his residence in a white Lexus, reportedly stolen from Murfreesboro, and armed with an AR-15 pistol. Detectives gave chase after he decided to recklessly drive at high speeds before abandoning his car and attempting to hide within his home. The suspect was discovered concealed within his attic behind a makeshift cardboard wall. Inside the home, in addition to another stolen vehicle, authorities found a second stolen AR-15 lower receiver, key fobs, a dealer tag, controlled substances, and paraphernalia linked to drug use.

Before his initial booking, Stanton admitted to having consumed fentanyl and was subsequently transported to General Hospital for treatment. Stanton's bold escape from custody occurred yesterday morning at the hospital. Still handcuffed, the suspect managed to slip away while being escorted by an officer and has since been at large, as detailed by the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The list of charges Stanton faces is extensive. They include two counts of vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, theft of property, possession of burglary tools, evidence tampering, drug possession, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license. As his criminal history seems to stubbornly follow him since November 2023, Stanton had previously been served probation for similar offenses. He was to begin three years of probation following a settlement on August 28 for cases including firearm theft, vehicle theft, and felony marijuana charges.

Nashville Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to Stanton's capture. Those with knowledge of his whereabouts are asked to urgently contact 911 or the tip line at 615-742-7463. Crime Stoppers assures anonymity to those who call, allowing potential informants to come forward without fear of exposure.
