The New Berlin Police Department confirmed the sentencing via a social media post, stating, "Martha Brown was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide in the February 2024 killing of Richard Platt in New Berlin." There is no chance of release for Brown, whose actions led to a life sentence. The family of the victim, while grieving, expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the investigation, acknowledging the efforts that helped ensure justice for Richard.
