The fairways at Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course are set for a change in flavor come the new year. As of January 3, 2026, The Back Nine will tee off as the new restaurant vendor at the popular New Orleans golfing spot, taking over from The Munch Factory, which has been dishing up meals to golfers and visitors since 2020.
The City of New Orleans Department of Parks & Parkways made the announcement, tipping their hat to the six years of service The Munch Factory provided before concluding its operations on November 7. According to the City of New Orleans, Michael Karam, Director of the Department of Parks & Parkways, expressed his appreciation for the outgoing vendor: "We are incredibly thankful to The Munch Factory and their culinary team for providing excellent food and hospitality to both golfers and guests. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
Not much has been revealed about the new menu, but The Back Nine promises a range of options from hearty burgers to fresh salads aimed at satisfying a variety of cravings. Keith Swanier, II, owner of The Back Nine, is poised to make an impression on the local golf and dining scene. "The Back Nine is thrilled to join the Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course legacy," Swanier expressed. He envisages the venue as a go-to spot not just for golfers, but also as a perfect setting for business lunches, romantic dates, or family outings, as mentioned in the same news.
Transitioning between restaurant vendors is a significant move for any establishment, let alone a municipal golf course that serves as a community hub. The Back Nine has voiced commitment to continuing the tradition of good food and good times at the golf course. "Our restaurant invites you to make it your 19th hole! At The Back Nine, we're committed to creating smiles ‘From the Tee to the Table,’" Swanier told in an enthusiastic tone, marking a fresh chapter for the storied course. Guests can look forward to a seamless switch and a new culinary experience starting early next year, according to the City of New Orleans website.
