The transition to the new bridge is set to bring about only minor disruptions, with demolition of the old westbound bridge expected to begin soon. Residents have been anticipating this improvement, designed to ultimately ease traffic snarls and bolster travel safety. According to the City of Colorado Springs, the extensive project, which commenced years ago, is slated to culminate in the heart of 2026.
Integral to the city's landscape, the Circle Drive bridges lie east of Interstate 25, stretching from Janitell Road to Monterey Road. Dominating the landscape over Fountain Creek, the twin structures, standing tall at 60 feet and extending over 800 feet, have been a feature since 1963. They support the hum of daily commute, with traffic rolling over the bridges’ expanse, crisscrossing above railroads, streets, and trails alike.
