Last month, The Ohio State University's Center for Software Innovation put the spotlight on the now and the next of tech innovation, hosting the Construct I/O 2025 summit – a converging point for tech founders, futurists, and enthusiasts. Among those imparting wisdom and insight into the rapidly moving world of software and artificial intelligence were Ohio State President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. and Executive Vice President and Provost Ravi V. Bellamkonda. According to the Ohio State University news release, Carter Jr. infused the event with a sense of purpose, saying, "Here at Ohio State, this is a place where we are creating a culture. We can bring the dreamers, the thinkers, the visionaries, and allow them to be the doers."
Provost Bellamkonda highlighted Ohio State's commitment, not only to burgeoning tech, but crucially, to its students – the ones who, pursuing comprehensive education in AI, will grow to shape the world. "The take-home message is that we can shape the world, we can be bold. … Ohio State is doing that with AI in a very comprehensive way, and I’m happy to go on this journey with all of you," Bellamkonda told the Ohio State University news release. Launched this year, the university's AI Fluency initiative aims to embed AI education into its core undergraduate curriculum. With this, Ohio State ushers its students not just into the use of AI but the questioning and innovating with it.
Construct I/O's lineup featured not just talks but real-life stories from Ohio State alumni turned tech entrepreneurs, like Brett Bejcek of Limitless, who, during his conversation with investor Ratmir Timashev, described the thrills and spills of startup life, from legal hurdles to the seemingly mundane task of settling on a company name. Both, having navigated the entrepreneurial labyrinth, concurred on the unparalleled excitement that comes with building a company in these times. Limitless is pioneering in the sound recording market, developing wearable tech aimed at making meetings and conversations digital task lists or summaries.
The event wasn't just about speeches. Construct I/O 2025 also rolled out the hands-on experience, offering attendees the chance to interact with AI tools, exchange business cards, and possibly share ideas.
