A person died after a fire tore through a second-floor unit at the Willow Greene condominiums in Far North Dallas early Monday. Dallas Fire-Rescue was called around midnight and reported heavy smoke coming from a second-floor apartment and the roof.
Crews knocked down the flames and stayed on scene to work hotspots. Firefighters found one person inside the unit; the person was taken to a hospital and died shortly after arrival, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue, as reported by FOX 4.
Property listings identify the complex as Willow Greene, commonly shown at 17490 Meandering Way in real-estate records. That places the condos in Far North Dallas near Preston and Frankford, according to Compass.
Arson and homicide investigators were called to the scene. The cause remains under investigation, the victim’s identity has not been released, and crews stayed into the early morning hours, per FOX 4.
What Investigators Will Do Next
Investigators will likely canvass the complex, interview neighbors, and review any available surveillance footage to determine whether the fire was accidental or criminal. If evidence points to a deliberate act, prosecutors could pursue charges; otherwise, the medical examiner will finalize the victim’s identification and cause-of-death determination before the case is closed.
