
A workplace shooting in Lapeer County, Michigan, at Trims Unlimited has left one person dead and resulted in the suspect being shot by police. The incident occurred yesterday in the town of Almont, as reported by local authorities.
According to CBS News Detroit, the victim was transported to the hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The suspect, a 32-year-old man from Columbus, Michigan, initially fled the crime scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement following a vehicle pursuit. The chase, which involved multiple police departments, came to an end near Sutton Road and Wilder Road, where the suspect was then shot several times by responding officers to ultimately stop him.
Detailed by FOX 2 Detroit, the pursuit caused damage to five police vehicles, and three officers were reported injured, treated at a local hospital, and released. The suspect, who was reported stable, is now under police custody in the hospital.
A local witness, Pat Manus, told FOX 2 Detroit, "It's very unnerving to say the least. It makes you wonder what goes through people's minds." Meanwhile, the manufacturing business specializes in car interiors and seatbelts. As the investigation into the shooting proceeds, two deputies involved in the shooting of the suspect have been placed on paid administrative leave, noted by both WXYZ and FOX 2 Detroit.
