In a tragic incident in Orange County, 4-year-old twins suffered gunshot wounds in their home, leading to the arrest of their parents. According to the WFTV report, the mother, Keishara B. Goodrum, 39, has been charged with two counts of child neglect with great bodily harm, and the father, Maurice Wayne Bright Jr., 40, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

After hearing a loud "pop," the parents immediately rushed their children to AdventHealth East, as injuries were sustained by the two boys inside their home located on Calais Circle. Despite not witnessing the event, deputies said the children were critically hurt when taken to the hospital by their parents, who, following the discovery of a "large amount of blood" on one of the twins' shirts, realized both had been injured, as ClickOrlando detailed.

The shooting, which left the children in critical but stable condition at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, occurred while Goodrum was reportedly making breakfast after a night of substantial alcohol consumption and having left her gun on the couch. The father, Maurice Bright Jr., who had been previously convicted as a felon, was on the back porch preparing a meal on the grill when the sound that signaled misfortune was heard, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the incident, Goodrum had a first appearance in court this morning, with Bright's scheduled for the afternoon.
