Tragedy struck on Thanksgiving Day as two individuals lost their lives in a shooting in Orlando. The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported the grim incident that took place in the 600 block of Cedar Bend Circle. According to WESH coverage, responding deputies found a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s, both suffering from gunshot wounds. While the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the woman succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
In relation to this double homicide, a 47-year-old man, Christian Vargas Pagan, has been arrested. The Orange County Sheriff's Office, as WFTV reported, confirmed that Pagan was detained at the Orange County Jail, where he was charged with First Degree Murder following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. Around a dozen Sheriff's Office cruisers, a crime scene investigation van, and several areas cordoned off by crime scene tape marked the location where the shooting happened.
Residents of the complex were shocked by the unfolding events. "I just came from Thanksgiving, and I see the police tape like this. I just assumed that it had to be something really bad because it wouldn't be blocked off like this," Latoya, who lives in the complex, told WESH. Another local, Armando Garcia, noted the somber mood despite the holiday, "It's pretty devastating to have that happen today on Thanksgiving," he remarked, as per the same source.
The connections between Christian Vargas Pagan and his alleged victims have not yet been disclosed by officials. The Sheriff’s Office, according to the latest updates, has not released any details about the relationship, if any, between the deceased and the suspect.
