Over 18,500 Salt Lake County residents experienced a jarring interruption in their daily lives when their electrically pulsating homes and businesses were plunged into stillness, following a power outage attributed to substation troubles. According to KUTV, the outage was first reported around 2:12 p.m. Friday after the Cottonwood substation lost its power supply, affecting a broad swath of the populace.
Service restoration loomed as a six-hour anticipation for those affected; however, by 4 p.m., Rocky Mountain Power offered a swift rebuttal to the darkness, claiming their victory in restoring power to their customers. KSL reported that the outage seemed to heavily impact residents in Holladay and Millcreek, but the brief inconvenience was alleviated by the power company's quick mobilization.
While the darkness may have ushered in a murmur of helplessness amidst the hum-drum of everyday life, a spokesperson for Rocky Mountain Power cast a light on the situation. "We appreciate our customers’ patience when difficulties happen," Dave Eskelsen told ABC4, assuring that their crews expedite their efforts, striving to work both quickly and safely, to unravel the knotty circumstances of such outages.
