A Painesville Township man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting outside a downtown Painesville restaurant. Dylan Hayden Stalnaker, 28, is accused of the death of 52-year-old Mentor resident Thorsten "Bo" Martin, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, WKYC reported.
The incident unfolded outside the Johnny Gringo restaurant at around 3:30 a.m. It is alleged that Stalnaker and Martin were involved in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Stalnaker is said to have fatally shot Martin. Responders attempted life-saving measures, but Martin was pronounced dead after being transported to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center. FOX8 reported that bystanders intervened to disarm Stalnaker and held him to the ground until police arrived.
Stalnaker was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital before he was booked into the Lake County Jail. He appeared for an arraignment at Painesville Municipal Court on Monday and is currently being held without bond. A preliminary hearing is set for December 1.
The Painesville Police Department continues to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
