Drivers navigating the Cedarcrest Road area of SR 92 should prepare for significant changes this November, as a two-phase traffic shift is implemented as part of the area's widening project. Tomorrow, the first shift will redirect traffic onto the two outermost lanes for both directions along SR92, operating through a new roundabout at the intersection with Old Burnt Hickory Rd, according to details from the Paulding County Government announcement.
This move is designed to facilitate the construction of innermost lanes and a median on SR-92 while keeping the flow of vehicles steady. This configuration, extends to Cedarcrest Road west of SR-92, where traffic within project limits will shift to the corresponding outer lanes as well. The expected changes fall in line with C.W. Matthews' contract obligations for the Georgia Department of Transportation on the project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area.
The second shift scheduled for Wednesday, November 12 will see additional adjustments with traffic on SR-92 between the Cedarcrest Rd intersection and Seven Hills Connector /Old Stilesboro Rd intersection being redirected. Vehicles will be moved to the west side of the road to continue Stage 2 of construction. This shift is to begin at the northeast corner of the SR-92 and Cedarcrest Rd junction, carrying traffic in a new configuration approximately 700 feet south from SR-92 at the Seven Hills Connector / Old Stilesboro Rd intersection before transitioning back onto the existing road alignment.
These traffic changes are slated to take place during daytime hours, specifically between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm, and are contingent on favorable weather conditions. As traffic patterns evolve, drivers are encouraged to stay alert and adjust their travel plans accordingly, accommodating the newly outlined routes that are projected to aid in streamlining the thoroughfare's capacity and improving overall travel conditions for commuters and residents alike.
