A pedestrian in Las Vegas is currently in a life-threatening condition following an early morning accident on Tuesday. According to FOX5 Vegas, Las Vegas Metro Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Charleston and Lamb around 4:30 a.m.
The individual was reportedly attempting to cross at Charleston within a crosswalk but did so against the traffic signal when they were struck by a vehicle. The police quickly responded, and the area has since been enveloped with a sizable police presence. Due to the ongoing investigation, all lanes near the intersection have been shut down, causing significant traffic delays throughout the area.
Adding to the account provided by FOX5 Vegas, News 3 LV also reported that the pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital after being hit by a car traveling west. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Travelers in East Las Vegas should prepare to adjust their travel routes to accommodate the closures. Both directions of Charleston and Lamb remain blocked as law enforcement and emergency services continue to deal with the aftermath of the crash. The public will need to continue to expect detours and traffic congestion until the scene is cleared and roads are reopened.
