A shooting at Partridge Creek Mall in Clinton Township has left an individual injured and prompted a search for a person of interest by local law enforcement. According to CBS News Detroit, the incident occurred Sunday night and resulted in the victim being hospitalized with an apparent gunshot wound. Police found the injured person after responding to reports of gunfire and have since been actively looking for a suspect described as a Black male dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt adorned with white flowers, jeans, and tennis shoes.
The shooting, which took place near the MJR theater at around 7 pm, is believed to be isolated to an isolated altercation between two individuals. Despite the gravity of such incidents, Clinton Township police have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to the public. "This incident appears to be an isolated event that was contained between two parties, and not targeted at the tree lighting ceremony," said Captain Michael Marker, as related by FOX 2 Detroit. The same source confirmed that the victim was found with a wound to the abdomen and was consequently taken to an area hospital.
Responding to the situation, a representative for The Mall at Partridge Creek released a statement emphasizing the safety of guests and staff. "We are currently working with local law enforcement to gather details on what occurred during tonight’s tree lighting event," the mall's representative remarked in comments obtained by ClickOnDetroit. "Guest and staff safety is our top priority, and we will continue to collaborate with Clinton Township Police Department as they investigate this situation."
