A pilot sustained injuries this week after a plane crash at Calaveras County Airport, officials reported. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. last Sunday when a single-engine airplane flipped over during an attempted takeoff, as per the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office via ABC10. Responding emergency crews discovered the aircraft in an inverted position and the pilot suffering from moderate injuries.
According to officials, the airplane veered off its course and collided with large rocks which, is believed to have caused the plane to overturn. This information comes courtesy of a Calaveras County Sheriff's Office statement obtained by KCRA. The pilot, who was the plane's sole occupant, was injured in the crash, which occurred at the same airport yesterday afternoon.
The circumstances surrounding the accident prompted a notification to the National Transportation Safety Board, with both sources confirming that an investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
