The Placer County Sheriff's Office has established a new player in the field of cold case investigations with the founding of the Placer County Cold Case Foundation. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit, as announced via Placer County Sheriff's Office's Post, is dedicated to providing financial and investigative support for cold cases in the region.
With over 80 unresolved cases, including homicides, missing persons, and unidentified remains, the Placer County Cold Case Foundation aims to help law enforcement pursue justice. Some tests can cost over $50,000, making the foundation’s support critical. Sheriff Wayne Woo says the foundation will help provide closure for families and communities.
The foundation aims to fund investigations, raise awareness, support families, and work with other agencies. Its goal is to refocus attention on long-unsolved cases and involve the community in the search for answers.
For those interested in supporting this cause, the Placer County Cold Case Foundation has laid out details on their website and Facebook page.
