Hawaii defeated San Diego State 38-6 last Saturday in rainy conditions, improving their record to 7-3 and keeping their conference championship hopes alive. Quarterback Micah Alejado threw three first-half touchdowns to Jackson Harris, who had 130 yards on seven catches, giving Hawaii a 24-6 halftime lead, according to KHON2.
In the second half, Hawaii extended their lead with an 86-yard kickoff return by Cam Barfield and a 53-yard interception return by Elijah Palmer. The defense limited San Diego State to just 21 rushing yards by halftime, helping secure the win.
"I feel like it was just that Manoa Magic," Peter Manuma, the team's four-year starting safety, said, reflecting on Hawaii's win over San Diego State, as reported by Spectrum Local News. Hawaii gained 368 total yards of offense, and kicker Kansei Matsuzawa set a program record with his 22nd successful field goal of the season. San Diego State, which had been allowing an average of 10 points per game, lost the game. Hawaii will face UNLV on November 21.
