Two men have lost their lives in a traffic accident on I-94 in St. Clair Shores. The incident occurred on the westbound freeway near 8 Mile Road last Saturday, approximately around 8:30 p.m., when the vehicle swerved off the road and struck a tree; this resulted in the tragic conclusion where both the driver and his passenger were pronounced dead at the site of the wreck.
Eyewitnesses recount the driver, a 40-year-old man from St. Clair Shores, had been "driving recklessly" before losing control of the car and it's these actions that lead to the vehicle abruptly leaving the road to meet its fatal end against a tree, meanwhile the incident caused a closure of the freeway for about four hours while authorities conducted their investigations and the 26-year-old passenger from Clinton Township, who was also killed, remains unnamed as of the latest information from CBS Detroit.
MSP's F/Lt. Mike Shaw emphasized the weight of responsibility drivers carry when operating a vehicle and the severe consequences that reckless driving can have, stating, "When you get behind the wheel of a vehicle you are responsible for everyone on the road," this quote coming from a social media post as detailed by WWJ Newsradio 950, he continued to discourage hazardous driving behavior asking the public to "Please slow down, don’t drive distracted or impaired."
