After a year of investigative work and inter-agency collaboration, the Berkeley Police Department has reported the arrest of a suspect linked to the attempted robbery of a Chevron Gas Station last year. The authorities took into custody 49-year-old Arcturus Wiggins from Richmond on Sunday, as informed by a Berkeley Police Department release.

The incident, which unfolded on November 21, 2024, involved a silver revolver and an unsuccessful attempt to breach a gas station cashier's barrier. Wiggins allegedly entered Chevron at 1399 San Pablo Ave and, unable to access the protected area, placed his weapon through the cash drawer's pass-through, threatening the cashier. No injuries were reported; however, the clerk was left understandably shaken. Although the suspect fled and initially avoided capture that night, evidence, including security footage, was collected.

Responding to the Berkeley event, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office later apprehended Wiggins for separate robberies that had occurred in their jurisdiction. The silver revolver used in these heists was noted for its resemblance to the one in Berkeley's case. This lead, supplemented by ALPR technology that spotted Wiggins' vehicle in the Berkeley area around the time of the attempted robbery, solidified the connection.

On February 7, detectives, convinced by the cumulative evidence, requested a warrant for Wiggins' arrest, which led to his subsequent capture by the Pittsburgh PD. Besides the warrant, Wiggins faced charges for evading the police and resisting arrest. The Alameda County District Attorney has since charged him under PC 211, Robbery with additional case enhancements.
