As the leaves turn and the days get shorter, Rock Hill's parks adjust to the chill of the season. The City of Rock Hill has announced changes to park hours, giving residents the heads up just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Starting from November 1, there's a shift in the rhythm of Cherry Park and Manchester Meadows. The parks wrap their landscapes with operating hours from 7 AM to 9 PM – this change to the fall/winter schedule will hold until the thaw of February 28. While nature takes its course, the calendar marks another turn today and tomorrow with the celebration of Thanksgiving.
For those seeking a slice of tranquility or a dash of exercise during the holiday, not every door will be open. Park offices, recreation centers, and special facilities like the Sports & Event Center, the BMX Track, and the Velodrome will pause services for both Thursday and Friday. The Tennis Center will join the shutdown, but only today.
An early closure is in store for Cherry Park and Manchester Meadows as they will both close at 6 PM today. People making plans might want to note that the usual park leisure – the trails and open spaces – will adhere to this slightly truncated schedule. Tomorrow, as dishes from the feast get wrapped in the refrigerator, normal operations resume without missing a beat. For those not fazed by the feast or the closures, Rock Hill reminds us that "All other facilities will observe normal operating hours."
