In the spirit of giving, it has launched its "Giving Tree" campaign to support less fortunate children through the Placer County Children's System of Care. According to the Rocklin Police Department, this initiative comes at a time when the cheer of the holiday season often overshadows the plight of those in need, but the department is looking to change that narrative, one gift at a time.
Those interested in participating can visit the police department's lobby to select a paper ornament, which details the wish of a local child. The lobby is open for this purpose during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Once an ornament is chosen, participants are asked to provide their name, phone number, and the tag number they are taking to the front counter staff, according to the Rocklin Police Department's social media post.
After choosing an ornament, buy the gift, place it unwrapped in a bag with the ornament attached, and return it to the Police Department front counter. The Rocklin Police Department encourages participants to ‘Smile…knowing you have made a difference.'
All gifts must be returned by December 8, so they can be distributed on time. For more information, visit the Rocklin Police Department’s Facebook page.
