The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is offering free rides to veterans and active military members on Tuesday for Veterans Day. Passengers must show a military or veteran ID when boarding, and all routes will run on their regular weekday schedules, as reported by FOX5 Vegas and News 3LV.

MJ Maynard-Carey, RTC CEO, said, "We respect and value each of our nation’s brave military members and are proud to honor them in a small way," and added, "Thank you to all active and retired military. Your dedication, service and sacrifice to our nation deserve recognition and appreciation every day, but especially on this special day," according to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. Veterans and active service members can ride RTC for free to attend the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Las Vegas, which starts at 10 a.m. on Fourth Street between Gass Avenue and Stewart Avenue and is one of the nation’s largest events honoring military service.

The Regional Transportation Commission offers veterans and active-duty personnel a 50% discount on fares through the Veterans & Active Duty Reduced Fare Program, free rides to medical appointments through the Veterans Medical Transportation Network, and DVX direct transit to the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, with additional routes to federal medical facilities. Las Vegas businesses are also providing free items for military members, including Starbucks’ tall brewed coffee, Texas Roadhouse meal vouchers, and Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches.
