A San Antonio Heights man was arrested following a late-night domestic violence incident that saw a frightened woman seeking refuge at a local police station, authorities said. Edgar Morales, 38, faces charges of domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment after his wife, who has not been named to protect her privacy, fled their home and reported the abuse. The woman's husband allegedly beat her, threatened her with a pistol, and held her against her will before she managed to escape and drive herself to safety, reported the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

On November 1, around 2:29 a.m., Deputy Gomez of the Fontana Sheriff's Station was dispatched to the Upland Police Department, where he met with the victim. Bearing injuries to her face, she recounted her harrowing ordeal to the deputy. She also voiced concern for her four children, who were still in the residence with Morales at the time. According to the victim's statement, the husband had access to several firearms and was known to be violent toward her and the children. Gomez, coordinating with additional deputies from the Fontana Station, initiated a plan to remove the children from what was presumably a dangerous environment.

The responding officers located the residence on the 2400 block of N. Oceanview Drive and managed to safely remove the young children from the scene. In their search for Morales, deputies did not find him at home; nevertheless, leveraging the sheriff's databases, they were able to track down Morales and the rental vehicle he was believed to be driving.
