San Diegans should expect cooler-than-average temperatures today and a series of light showers continuing into the evening, according to the NWS San Diego. The forecast predicts highs around 5 to 10 degrees below the norm for this time of year. It's part of a wider weather system that's been bringing precipitation since Monday, with more on the horizon for Thursday and Friday.
Orange, San Diego, and southwestern San Bernardino counties have collected around a quarter to one-half inch of rain on the coast and inland, while the mountains have seen closer to an inch. The National Weather Service says that "Widely scattered mostly light showers will continue today," with a chance of precipitation persisting into the evening for coastal waters, adding "additional rainfall of one-quarter inch or less." Snow levels are dropping to approximately 5,500 feet, and higher elevations above 6,000 feet could receive a few more inches of snow.
Wednesday is set to be marginally drier and warmer, but with a "continuing slight chance of showers for the mountains." Attention then turns to Thursday, when a Pacific low-pressure system is expected to usher in "more widespread showers for Thursday night and Friday," as stated in the Area Forecast Discussion by the NWS San Diego.
