A violent weekend in San Marcos has left the community shaken, as authorities investigate multiple shootings, one of which was fatal. In the late hours of Saturday night, a shooting occurred near Kissing Alley on Hopkins Street, resulting in the death of one individual and the injury of others, as first reported by KENS 5. Two suspects involved in this incident remain at large and are believed to have fled the scene in a silver or gray Audi A3.
According to Fox San Antonio, the San Marcos Police Department described the suspects as two Black males, one wearing a black hoodie with white letters, dark pants, and dark shoes, the other adorned in a two-tone jacket—black over lighter gray—dark pants, and a beanie. Hopkins Street was closed between LBJ Drive and Guadalupe Street as officers conducted their investigation, during which all bars in the vicinity were ordered to close. Residents have been advised to steer clear from the area.
Two more shootings hit the city on Sunday. At 1:25 a.m., police responded to gunfire at an apartment near Travis Elementary, finding shell casings and blood. The victim was hospitalized, and the shooter is still at large. About 10 minutes earlier, San Marcos Police Department responded to gunshots on North LBJ Drive, leading to one arrest. It’s unclear if anyone was hurt, and this incident is unrelated to the other shooting, as reported by Fox San Antonio.
Community concerns are expected to be addressed in a scheduled press conference by the San Marcos police on Monday afternoon. The department urges anyone with information related to the shootings or who may have captured pertinent photos or videos to come forward and contact them at 512-753-2108, as per Fox San Antonio.
