A tragic incident unfolded yesterday when a Chevrolet pickup was involved in a collision in Santa Rosa. According to a news release from the Santa Rosa Police Department, the accident occurred around 5:33 AM in the vicinity of W 8th Street and Warren Lane. The police said the solo driver struck a fire hydrant before crashing into a parked vehicle and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The Santa Rosa Police Department, responding to initial reports, enlisted the help of the Santa Rosa Fire Department to address the collision. In the wake of the driver's death, the SRPD Accident Investigators and Field Evidence Technicians have taken the reins of the investigation. 

Questions about the cause of the collision and whether impairment played a role in the incident remain unanswered. The SRPD is keeping the identity of the deceased under wraps until the next of kin can be notified.
