A Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) Motor Officer sustained minor injuries after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Mendocino Avenue. According to a social media post by the Santa Rosa Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 5:38 PM, when the officer was responding to a call.
Navigating northbound on Mendocino Avenue, just north of Steele Lane, the officer encountered a white Subaru Outback pulling out of a parking lot from the 2200 block. The Subaru driver attempted to cross into the southbound lanes, inadvertently into the path of the officer's motorcycle. Despite applying emergency braking techniques, the officer was unable to prevent the collision.
The officer was promptly treated at a local hospital, having suffered only minor injuries, and was released soon after. The SRPD confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be contributing factors to the unfortunate incident. The driver of the Subaru, who has cooperated fully with the SRPD's investigation, was not injured.
The unfortunate collision resulted in only minor injuries for the officer and minor damage to the Subaru. Having been towed from the scene, the SRPD motorcycle also incurred minor damage.
