Puget Sound Fire has announced the promotion of a seasoned firefighter to a key leadership position within their ranks. Scott Galassi, who has been with the department since April of 1998, has risen to the role of District Chief. This advancement places him in charge of the 17 fire stations under the purview of Puget Sound Fire, a responsibility which includes acting as incident commander at emergency scenes. According to the department's social media post, the official oath of office was administered by Fire Chief Mark Jones during a ceremony, followed by the tradition of Galassi having his badge pinned on by his daughter.
Scott Galassi's appointment to District Chief was met with a warm reception from the community and the firefighters he will be leading. His new assignment as the A-shift District Chief in the Central Battalion, based out of Station 74 on the east hill of Kent, will see him transition out of the Fire Training Consortium. The responsibilities accompanying his position are substantial, with the safety and coordination of a large response area falling under his purview. Puget Sound Fire's announcement noted that "The District Chief is part of Puget Sound Fire’s leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the operation of the 17 fire stations within our response area and is responsible for being the incident commander at emergency scenes."
Members of the community and fellow firefighters were encouraged by Puget Sound Fire to offer their congratulations to Galassi on his well-earned promotion.
