Seattle law enforcement officials have detained a man following an early Sunday drive-by shooting in Pioneer Square, with the chaotic scene unfolding just after the bars had shuttered their windows and the streets began to echo with the silence of the departing night. According to the Seattle Police Department's Blotter, gunfire was reported around 1:37 a.m., whereupon officers stationed near the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South investigated and discovered two vehicles struck by bullets, initiating a sweep to secure the vicinity.
The case broke open thanks to a Tesla’s security cameras, which captured the suspect firing a gun and fleeing in a white Mercedes-Benz, according to the Seattle Police Department. Soon after, a security guard spotted the same car and suspect in an alley, allowing officers to arrest the 21-year-old man without incident.
After the arrest, Seattle Police Department impounded two vehicles linked to the shooting and are waiting for search warrants to look for more evidence. The suspect faces charges for a drive-by shooting and unlawful firearm possession and is being held in the King County Jail.
