Early Sunday morning mishap on Interstate 35 hit Logan County drivers with an added dose of adversity as roughly 7,000 gallons of bio-diesel spilled across the road, following a semi rollover near mile marker 170. The KOCO reported that southbound lanes were shut down to facilitate cleanup after the vehicle lost control around 3:30 a.m.
As per News9, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, contrasting information from OKC FOX has indicated that the semi's driver was hospitalized following the crash. This breach in an otherwise routine journey marks a reminder of the unpredictability veiled within the monotonous drapery of the interstate's dance.
Efforts to tame the flow of spilled biodiesel engaged emergency crews from multiple counties, including Logan County, Payne County, Guthrie, and Mulhall, as detailed by News9. Oklahoma Highway Patrol redirected traffic off I-35 at Mulhall Road, channeling vehicles onto U.S. Highway 77 and back toward Guthrie via State Highway 33, a necessary detour meticulously planned to steer clear of the arterial congestion.
Drivers on the southbound lanes of the interstate are advised to expect delays or seek alternate routes until the roadway is reopened. A significant amount of spilled biodiesel has prompted the closure, and authorities indicate that the southbound lanes may remain closed for several hours. Traffic management efforts are underway to safely redirect vehicles around the affected area.
