Yesterday, a flurry of police activity in Santa Rosa ended with the arrest of several suspects following an attempted robbery and subsequent pursuit. According to a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle tailing another at the corner of Fulton Road and Occidental Road around 1:14 PM. The caller indicated that multiple individuals occupied the suspect vehicle and that one was seen with a handgun.
An attempt by the police to pull over the suspect vehicle in southwest Santa Rosa was met with resistance, as the suspects decided not to comply immediately and led officers on a chase at moderate speeds through city streets. The pursuit, confined to a residential area, came to an end when the suspects halted their vehicle. It was then that a passenger brandished a semi-automatic handgun, fitted with an extended magazine and loaded with 23 rounds, as they exited the car. Officers detained this individual and recovered the weapon swiftly. The rest of the occupants of the car were detained following a high-risk stop.
The investigation into the incident by the Santa Rosa Police unveiled that the suspects had been in the midst of plotting to rob the driver they were following. In the aftermath, all suspects involved were arrested on a series of serious charges, which include attempted robbery, conspiracy, gang-related offenses, and weapons violations.
