
A single-vehicle crash on Cherry Hill Road in Montgomery claimed the life of 26-year-old Mariama Samateh from Silver Spring. First responders found her trapped in an overturned blue 2007 Toyota Avalon near O’Fallon Street on Sunday evening, and she was pronounced dead at the scene despite rescue efforts, according to the Montgomery County.
The preliminary investigation indicates Samateh’s vehicle failed to properly navigate a curve, causing it to leave the road and strike a tree. The Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, with the Collision Reconstruction Unit carefully examining the events that led to a fatal crash on Cherry Hill Road. The unit, which investigates traffic collisions, is working to determine the cause, a process that can take weeks or longer.
