
A fire in Sunnyside, Queens, sent six people to the hospital yesterday, including five firefighters. ABC7NY reported that the fire broke out around 8:45 p.m. on 40th Street near Queens Boulevard. The blaze, located on the building’s third floor, prompted a response from 60 fire and EMS personnel.
The injuries from the fire required hospitalization. As per ABC7NY, one civilian was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, while the five injured firefighters were treated at Mount Sinai Queens. No updates have been released on their current condition.
According to The Patch, the fire was brought under control shortly after 9:30 p.m., and fire marshals are investigating its cause. Firefighters and EMS personnel worked through the night to contain the blaze.
