The distress call, which came through REDCOM, the Fire and Medical Dispatch Center, detailed an injured hiker trapped on Pinnacle Gulch Beach with a challenging route ahead due to rising tides and rugged terrain, as per the Sonoma Sheriff's social media platform.
The rescue operation saw the Henry-1 unit deploy a paramedic onto a narrow stretch of beach, where the victim with an ankle injury was attended to. Simultaneously, teams from the Sonoma County Fire District hiked in and aided in stabilizing her; the difficulties posed by the landscape and the incoming tide necessitated a more complex extraction involving a 100-foot longline that Henry-1's Tactical Flight Officer adeptly configured from a repositioned vantage point on the bluff above.
Following meticulous preparations, the patient was secured into a "hot-seat" rescue device by the sheriff's Paramedic and the Flight Officer, who had been flown back to the precarious site. A brief moment of levity came as they shared "lighthearted joking with the patient on the bottom of the line" before airlifting her to the waiting arms of MED811, a Sonoma County Fire District's ambulance, which had been staged nearby in anticipation of her arrival, as reported by the Sonoma Sheriff's office.
